Cloudy day, first one in a long time, it seems. Still fairly warm in the sun
Most of the day spent at home except for a walk through the local market, and a visit to the food store, Asda.
5:30 took tube to Brian's family's home in Elm Park tube area, along District Line, just 5 stops up the line from Barking. Their home is a 10 minute walk from tube station. First thing I noticed was that most of the people I saw on the street were Caucasian... a totally different scene from Barking. The streets were free of garbage.
Brian's family: home belongs to his cousin Joe's daughter Tracy, her husband, and 3 kids. Amy has finished university, and is looking for a job as a phlebotanist - person who takes blood from patients. She hopes to attend medical school. Jamie has just graduated from university and is looking to start work as an apprentice (we call it co-op) in recruitment. The other daughter has left home.
Also present were Joe, with whom Brian went to Russia on holidays, Tracy's friend Joanne and her husband, and Francis and her husband. And Jamie and his girlfriend.
England was playing Australia in a final rugby match, so 3 of the fellows focused on that. England lost.
Ordered in Chinese food. Everyone ordered what they wanted, and the total cost was divided up. UK8 each, and there was food left. The food was fairly good. I'd order it again.
Took no photos.
Had to leave at 11:25 to catch the last train.
