Tues, Sept 29 Walk - Tower - Butler Wharf - Southwark Cathedral

Very warm sunny day.  Back to wearing summer clothes.

Tube to Tower of London, did not go in, entrance fee high. Walked over Tower Bridge, turned left and walked along Butler Wharf.  No tourists here, and yet it's right beside a very popular tourist attraction, Tower Bridge.

Tower Bridge

Butler's Wharf area adjacent to Tower Bridge - former warehouses converted to restaurants, offices, shops.  No tourists, few people walking about. Can walk along waterfront on opposite side of these buildings on this street. Are condos here too. Quiet.

Walking along embankment just past Tower Bridge, I turned around and saw the bridge was up - not a usual occurrence.  Could see a large ship approaching the bridge, so stopped to see what was happening.

Coffee and croissant near Southwark Cathedral

Just happened to arrive at the church when evensong was started at 5:30, so sat down and enjoyed a 40 minute or so service: 2 Bible readings, several songs sung by a choir; lovely music

Belfast - decommissioned British naval ship; can take tours on board

Sir Francis Drake traveled in this ship, they say

Home:  Jubilee Line to West Ham during rush hour - crowded. Transferred to District Line.
Now quite cool.  Late afternoon it gets much cooler.

Made my zucchini/tuna/mint salad for dinner.
